To receive a quote via the internet:
-
Simply e-mail us with attached DXF or DWG files of the parts you need. (Note the tips below.) If you do not have CAD and your parts are simple, we can work from faxed or e-mailed graphics and drawings, but they must contain all dimensions. (JPG or GIF)
-
We'll reply quickly with a quote and estimated ship date. You will be pleased with both.
-
Please arrange for shipment of material to us, at the address above. Although we occasionally have some scrap on hand, we generally do not keep material in stock. If you do not have a favorite vendor of the material you need, we may be able to refer you.
Tips for creating CAD files for waterjet cutting:
We can work with your files as necessary, but these simple tips will ensure you get the best quality parts, as quickly as possible.
- Most important: Please provide only 2D files. Even if your drawing consists entirely of coplanar entities, it is not 2D format unless you put your software into 2D mode before saving it.
- DXF or DWG files work well for us, and almost any CAD software can produce them. However, there are 3D forms of these files, which we can not use. See #1.
- Make sure the end of every line or arc exactly meets the end of another line or arc. Remember you are drawing a path for our cutting stream to follow. Most software uses "snap modes", or "meet two lines" features to make this easy.
- Ideally, your drawing should be only arcs, circles, and lines . If you use polylines or polygons, please break them into arcs and line segments. Do NOT break arcs into polylines or short line segments, since this would diminish the quality of your finished part.
- Since our equipment puts the cutting stream "against the edge" of your parts, you do not need to accommodate the width of the cutting stream in your drawings.
- Use only one layer. If you use the default settings of your software, there should be only one.
- Although we do not need dimensions if your drawing is to scale, consider including one major dimension. This will ensure there is no confusion about the intended size.
- If you want to put notes or dimensions in your drawing, it's best to make sure they are saved as text in the drawing, not small lines. This makes sure the text will not be confused with the shape of the part.
- We do not need borders or "engineering labels" in your drawing.
- Please name your files after yourself, your company, or your project.
- Feel free to arrange several parts on your raw material to minimize scrap. First draw a rectangle to represent the material piece, and work with the parts "like puzzle pieces" for the best fit and use of material. Leave about 1/8" between any two parts. Use color if you wish.
- Please zip your files before sending them.
